We do not issue police clearance certificates. The PCC comes to you from Passport Seva (Regional Passport Office, PSK or POPSK) or from the police. Our work starts once you hold it: apostille by the MEA, or attestation for countries that need an embassy stamp.
Which PCC do you have?
India issues two different kinds of police clearance, and they follow different routes to the MEA. Look at who signed yours.
Issued by the passport office

Signed by a passport officer after you applied through Passport Seva. It usually goes to the MEA apostille directly. ₹1,000. More on this PCC

Police station or state portal PCC
Signed by a police station, SP or Commissioner, or downloaded from a state police portal. The issuing state authenticates it before the MEA. More on this PCC
PCC apostille or attestation by country
Your destination decides whether the PCC gets one MEA apostille or an MEA attestation followed by an embassy stamp. Pick your country for its checklist, translation needs and route.

No apostille needed: Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the USA ask for a PCC but take it as issued. Do not pay for an apostille on a PCC going to these countries.

Delhi and NCR residents can drop the PCC at our New Ashok Nagar office and collect it there. From any other city, courier it to us. We return it by Blue Dart or another secure courier with a tracking number.

How recent should the PCC be?
India does not set the limit; the receiving country does. Spanish consulates ask for a certificate issued within 6 months. A 2026 report on the UAE mentions a PCC valid for at least 90 days. Berlin's nurse recognition office wants one not older than 3 months. If yours is already a few months old, confirm with the receiving office before you send it to us. An apostille does not make an old PCC new.

Questions about PCC apostille
Can you get a PCC made for me?
No. We do not issue PCCs and do not apply for them. Passport Seva or the police issue the certificate to you directly. Our work begins once you have it.
Can you apostille a scan or printout of my PCC?
The apostille goes on the original certificate. Send the original and keep a scan for yourself. If your PCC was issued as a digitally signed download, send us a photo first and we tell you how to proceed.
My police PCC is from another state. Can Delhi authenticate it?
No. A police-issued PCC is authenticated by the state that issued it. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait, for example, says authentication from a different state is not treated as genuine.
My PCC names one country. Can I use it for another?
If the PCC mentions a specific country or purpose, the new receiving office may refuse it. Check with them first. If they accept it, we can apostille it.
Do you need my original passport?
No. A clear copy of the front and back pages is enough. Only the PCC has to be the original.
