Teachers moving to Thailand

PCC Attestation for Thailand

Thai schools have to show a clean background check for every foreign teacher they hire. If you are an Indian teacher, that check is your police clearance certificate with the Thai Embassy's legalisation on it. We do not issue PCCs. You get yours from Passport Seva or the police, and we take it to the MEA and the Royal Thai Embassy.

We do not issue police clearance certificates, and we do not apply for them for you. Apply for your PCC through Passport Seva (PSK, POPSK or the Regional Passport Office) or at the police. When it arrives, we legalise that certificate for Thailand.

Who needs a legalised PCC for Thailand

Most Thailand PCC files we handle belong to teachers. A Thai school that hires a foreign teacher has three pieces of paperwork to complete: the Non-Immigrant B visa for teaching, the work permit, and the teaching licence or waiver from the Teachers' Council of Thailand (often called the Khurusapha). A criminal background check from the teacher's home country runs through that whole process.

Other professionals are a different case. The Thai foreign ministry's general list for a Non-B employment visa does not include a PCC, so an engineer or hotel manager moving to a Thai company may never be asked for one. If your employer has not asked, you do not need to spend money on it. If they have, the route below is the same.

Why Thailand needs the Thai Embassy stamp

From our processing practice, Thai schools and offices look for the Royal Thai Embassy's legalisation on Indian documents. So for Thailand we do not stop at an MEA apostille. The PCC is verified at state level where needed, attested by the MEA, and then legalised by the Thai Embassy in New Delhi.

Passport office PCC

From Passport Seva

Your PCCMEA attestationThai Embassy

The certificate Thai schools see most often. It usually goes to the MEA without a state step.

Police-issued PCC

Needs state authentication first. Home Department attestation is done by the state whose police issued it.

If your school's agent has written that an apostille is enough, send us that message. We will follow a written instruction from the receiving school.

Thai translation

Thai government offices work in Thai. Some accept an English PCC with the embassy stamp, and some ask the school to file a Thai translation along with it. The school's HR or visa staff know what their provincial office wants, so ask them before the PCC is legalised. If a translation is needed, we prepare it, and we tell you whether it should go to the Thai Embassy as well or stay as a plain translation.

What to send and how the work runs

  • The original PCC
  • A clear copy of your passport (front and back pages)

  3. State step and MEAOnly where your certificate needs it, then MEA attestation.
  4. Royal Thai EmbassyWe submit the papers for legalisation.
  5. Back to youCollect in Delhi, or receive them by Blue Dart or another secure courier.

We give you a time estimate with the price, before you send anything.

Timing your PCC around the school year

Thai schools often recruit for the start of a term, and they want the background check to be recent. Many schools mention a window of a few months, but your school sets the limit, so ask them. A sensible order is: accept the offer, ask the school for its exact list, then apply for the PCC, and send it to us as soon as it arrives. That way the certificate is still fresh when the school files your work permit.

Questions about PCC attestation for Thailand

Is the PCC for the work permit the same one the Teachers' Council wants?

Usually yes. Schools normally use one legalised PCC across the visa, work permit and licence files. Ask the school whether it needs one original or extra certified copies.

I teach at an international school, not a Thai government school. Do I still need this?

Teachers at international and private schools also go through the work permit and Teachers' Council process, so most schools still ask. Your school's HR team will confirm.

I am already in Thailand on a tourist visa. Can I still get my Indian PCC legalised?

You would need to get the PCC first, which is between you and Passport Seva or the Indian mission. Once you have an Indian PCC, a family member in India can courier it to us or drop it at our Delhi office, and we send it back to the address you give.

My school's agent says a photocopy with a notary stamp is fine. Is that enough?

For a background check, Thai schools normally want the original legalised certificate. Ask the agent to confirm in writing. If they insist a copy is enough, that is their call, but we legalise only the original.

Can my spouse's PCC be done at the same time?

Yes, if your spouse has their own PCC and the school or visa office has asked for it. Each certificate is priced separately.
