PCC Apostille for Poland

Many Indians moving to Poland never need a PCC at all. It comes up when a consulate, visa centre or employer asks for one, usually for a national D work visa. If you have been asked, we apostille the PCC you already hold. We do not issue PCCs or apply for them: Passport Seva or the police give it to you.

We do not make or apply for police clearance certificates. You get the PCC yourself from Passport Seva (PSK, POPSK or the Regional Passport Office) or from the police. We only apostille a PCC you already have.

When Poland actually asks for a PCC

Poland is less consistent about PCCs than most European countries, so it helps to separate the two stages of a typical work move.

StageIs an Indian PCC on the official list?
Temporary residence and work permit (residence card) at the voivodeship officeNo. The application form has a criminal record section. You declare any judgments against you and sign the form under criminal liability.
National D visa for work, at a consulate or visa centre in IndiaSometimes. Checklists often list a PCC "if applicable" or "if requested".
Employer or recruitment agencySome ask for one as part of their own hiring checks.

So the honest answer to "do I need an apostilled PCC for Poland?" is: only if someone in your process has asked for it. For the residence card stage, the official procedure relies on your own declaration.

Ask these questions before you spend anything

A PCC costs you time at Passport Seva, and an apostille costs money. Before you start either, get clear answers from the person who asked, preferably in writing:

  • Is the PCC compulsory for your file, or only "if applicable"?
  • Will a passport office PCC do, or do they want a police certificate?
  • Do they want it apostilled?
  • Do they need a Polish translation, and in what form?
  • How recent must it be on the day you submit?

If the answer to the first question is vague, send us their message. We read it with you and say whether it sounds like a firm requirement. We would rather tell you that you do not need us than apostille a certificate nobody will look at.

If you do need it: the route by PCC type

Poland is a member of the Apostille Convention, so the MEA apostille is the final Indian step. There is no Polish Embassy stamp.

RPO PCCMEA apostille

Notary + SDM or Home DepartmentMEA apostille

For a certificate from a police station, SP or Commissioner. Notary + SDM costs ₹1,500 in total where it is accepted. Home Department verification, from the state that issued the PCC, is on quote.

Polish translation

Polish offices work in Polish. If yours asks for a translation, ask whether it must be done by a Polish sworn translator, or whether a translation prepared in India is enough. We translate into Polish and tell you which format your office is asking for before you order. If the translation follows the apostille, it can cover the apostille certificate too.

Questions about PCC apostille for Poland

My agent says the residence card needs an apostilled PCC. The official list does not mention one. Who is right?

The voivodeship procedure uses a declaration on the form. Some offices or agents still ask for more. Ask the agent which office wants it and why. If they confirm in writing, we apostille it.

What is the criminal record declaration on the form?

It is a section where you state any court judgments against you. You sign the application under criminal liability, so answer it truthfully and completely.

My D visa checklist says "PCC if applicable". Does that apply to me?

Ask the visa centre or your employer. Some applicants are asked for it at the appointment and others are not. If you want to be ready, get the PCC close to your appointment date so it is still recent.

Should I apostille a PCC now, just in case?

Usually no. A PCC ages, and an apostille does not reset its date. Wait until a specific office asks, unless your appointment is close.

Can my employer in Poland see it before the original arrives?

Yes. After the apostille we can send you a scan to forward, and the original comes back to you by courier.
